We're off to see...

Tomorrow I am heading up to to Seattle for fall break with my friend Pierce.  I'm so excited! I've never been to Washington and I can't wait to see it :)  Stay tuned for some awesome pictures and hopefully some awesome stories!  I'm off to go pack!

Leaf Art

Ok, isn't this just amazing?!  This guy, Lorenzo Duran, makes these awesome "cut-away" art out of real leaves.  It's this sort of thing that makes me wish I had more of an artistic bone in my body.  However, the lack of one does make me appreciate what others can do!  Enjoy!

Midnight Showing Anyone?

I love staying up late and I love movies, which makes it quite perfect when there is a midnight showing going on.  Want to know what the last midnight showing I saw was?... prepare to be jealous!

That's right, it was The Lion King!  Possibly the best movie ever made.  Seeing it on the big screen, dream come true!  Especially at 12:01 :)  there's just something about getting to that movie theater hours in advance hoping to secure the best seats... nevermind that only six total people showed up for the midnight show...and three of them were friends you brought with you.  It was awesome :)  ps. Do you like my Simba shirt?!

why hello there shalece.blogspot.com...for a second (more like a couple months) I forgot you existed!

This summer, I did something awesome! ...Actually I did a lot of awesome things and met a lot of really cool people, but let's just do a recap on some of my favorite times:  This summer was the summer for me to throw myself in the wonderful world of theatre,

starting with THIS:
#1

Then moving on to THIS:

#2

Heading down south for THIS:

#3

which finally brings us to THIS:

#4

10 points to anyone who guessed all of the musicals I saw this summer based on the sets!

#1  RENT - I watched the movie by the same name in high school and I've wanted to see the play ever since.  That's why when I heard it was playing at the Pioneer Theatre in Salt Lake, there was no way I was missing it!  I went with my lovely sister Shae and my awesome cousin Tyson :)  It was amazing.  There was one character (Mimi) who didn't quite fill my expectations, but other than that it was fantastic and I can't wait until I can go to New York and see it there!

#2 THE SOUND OF MUSIC - My Grandma Kathy wanted to do a girls night the night before our family reunion, and she decided to take us to this wonderful musical!  It was up at the Sundance Amphitheater which was super cool because the hills were literally alive with the sound of music!  Although I was familiar with some of the songs I didn't actually know the storyline behind this musical.  Needles to say, I was thuroughly impressed :)  especially with the children actors! The littlest girl was so adorable and she did so well!  Big thanks to Grandma Kathy, my wonderful Mom, Shae, Michelle, Jodi, & Janet for making this an awesome night!

#3 THE LITTLE MERMAID - Where do I even begin?!  Since mine, Shae's and Britnee's birthday are all two weeks apart, my mom thought it would be fun to have a girls weekend.  So we packed up in the car and headed down to the Tuacahn in St. George! The Little Mermaid was INCREDIBLE!  The special effects were wonderful, they had this curtain of water coing down and it legitly looked like the play was preformed under the sea!  So cool!

#4 THE LION KING - Anyone who knows me would know how freakin' excited I was to finally be able to see my all time favorite movie preformed on stage.  My mom recently told me that when I was 3 and had every word memorized, my favorite thing to do on Sundays was to act out the ENTIRE movie for the whole family (I really hope she has that on video somewhere, wouldn't that be awesome to watch?!)  The second part of my birthday present was at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas. It was so amazing I almost cried...really.  The costumes were so cool!  Get on the website to look at them because they were incredible, and the stage!  I mean... it was crazy!  From pride rock to the...ahhh! the stamped part was so cool, but also extremely sad... One of my favorite parts was when Mufasa speaks to Simba in the water you know the who 'Remember who you are' part.  Simba was looking into a bowl of water and it looked like the freakin' wall morphed into Mufasa's face!  I have no idea how they did that, but it was amazing-- no.  it was Legen- wait for it- DARY!

So that was my summer of theatre.  I also added to this to going to a Murder Mystery Dinner Play with my good friend Nate.  It was really cool! You got to sit and eat while the actors where acting out the parts, and then in between courses they'd come around and talk with you.  At the end, someone dies, and you have to figure out Who did it? How? and Why?  We guessed wrong, but it was still fun!
Nate's wearing that goofy police hat because he got chosen out of the audience to help out.

Enough about this summer...
School's been going for about a month.  I do love my classes, however last week I got in my 'school sucks' slump and I am trying to make my way out of it.  This semester I'm taking Sociology of the Family, Social Work, Anthropology, Positive Psychology, and Oceanography.  I have great teachers and they make the subjects they teach really injteresting.  I just have to find my motivation again.

I'm coaching Lehi High School Lacrosse!  Which means I'm Shae's coach (Yay!)  It's been going for a couple weeks and it's been fun.  The head coach Amanda is awesome, and the two of us are going to make Lehi a better team.  You can already see the improvement from last year.  We have a lot of talent, and it's amazing what can happen when talented players actually have coaches who know what they're doing!  We're 1 - 1 right now with three more weeks of the fall season.

In other news, I started a new job today.  Now, instead of sitting in a chair listening to angry people on the phone all day, I get to be on my feet as a cashier at a gas station.  If you want to come visit me it's the Conoco right of the Center St exit in Orem.  Maybe not the most glamourous job, but I get a free Dr. Pepper when I'm working so can I really ask for much more?!

That's all for now!  Maybe you'll hear from me soon but no promises ;)  I still suck at blogging!
